I mean some of you girls could use a bigger presence. My good friend Scene slayed his challenges and was a finalist and almost won, but where is she now? Winning challenges only gets you to the finale but from there it's null.

I wanted to comment on my fave entry, which is iHype's. It would allow the contestants to freely illustrate who they are and their potential as ATRL's Next Top Member outside of their entries for focused challenges. It could also serve as an alternative go-see/portfolio challenge.

Regarding the whole relevant/irrelevant thing, I think it's more about how certain people came to be popular. If I went through an ATRL thread as someone who had never been on before, iHype would stand out to me. I would assume he was relevant and well known/liked ...Certain other members? Not so much. His personality really shines through in areas that certain other members don't. And I think that's where the "Ruben Studdard" thing comes in, cause it's like... you can win a bunch of challenges without being interesting outside of them. Without being a standout member outside of ANTM.

But what do I know? I only made it to sixth place

Honestly!

If this was purely a popularity contest a set call out would already be made. That's why there are challenges, judges, etc. Your popularity will only get you so far. The judges do a good job without paying attention to popularity and focusing solely on the competition.

There were a lot of members that were WAY more popular than I was, now and at the time, that was constantly doing better than I did during my cycle. Then I was chosen as winner due to my potential and the judges. But really during my cycle I was probably at my peak on this site. Some don't know even know me

Judging Top Member based on popularity would be like making Top Model about contestants' beauty. Just because you spend a lot of time in SYG or have friends who will vote for you in a countdown doesn't make you the best member.
