At least The Fame was fun.
AcclaimedMusic has a pretty logical, straight forward formula and is very comprehensive
While it shouldn't be taken as an end all of acclaim ("my fave is five spots higher therefore she is more acclaimed! The end!"), a difference of thousands of spots does say a lot.
There was definitely a backlash, what are y'all on about? It was all over the news and Taylor got a lot of hate for her promiscuous ways. I even remember Billboard publishing a timeline about her relationships.
But it mostly came from people that don't give a damn about her music (Hence IKYWT was smashing at the time), so it doesn't matter.
For the past ten years the Grammys have awarded albums that are "organic sounding", mainly based in rock genres or featuring lots of acoustic instruments. It's why I'm not convinced BESTIA will win.
