95. Nicki Minaj - Pills N Potions
"Pills and potions / We're overdosing / I'm angry but I still love you"

The first of Nicki Minaj’s five entries on my Top 100 of 2014 is the lead single off of her new album, The Pinkprint. Releasing Pills N Potions as the lead single was disappointing to say the least, but this song is so heartfelt and honest that it deserves a spot on my Top 100. Lyrically, I like this song a lot and the chorus gives me life. To have the courage to say “I still love you” is admirable.

94. Jessie J feat. 2 Chainz - Burnin' Up
"Everything hot like it's fresh off the grill / Million dollar grill look fresh on the hill / Plus I'm 6'5", she need to step in some heels... / Me and my homie on the dance floor / White girl in the middle, looking like an Oreo"

Why on earth did this flop???

Poor Jessie J. After the massive smash collaboration with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, Bang Bang (which appears later on this countdown), her second single featuring 2 Chainz failed to impact pop radio or the iTunes charts much at all. The beat to this song serves enough life as it is, but 2 Chainz’s verse is remarkable as well. I wish more pop girls would use 2 Chainz to assist on their singles; not only is his talent underrated, but he has some of the best verses on collaborations that I’ve heard recently.

93. Usher feat. Nicki Minaj - She Came to Give It to You
"He want the flirty girl, I'm the girly girl / You know who get the worm its the early bird, flow / Slicker than MJ, early curl... / Five plus five what they call that? Ten / Out in japan we be counting that, Yen / Ladies who you trying get it popping with? Men"

Nicki Minaj re-appears yet again! This time, she assists Usher on his single, She Came to Give It to You. In what is regrettably Usher’s only appearance on my Top 100 of 2014 (Good Kisser didn’t make the cut

), this Pharrell-produced single made some waves for its inescapable catchiness. Nicki gives 2 Chainz a run for his money on this previous single, and just manages to outrank Jessie J ha collaboration.

92. MØ – Pilgrim
"Oh, what a world I was born into / Warriors are lying down... / All the time I just want to / Let go and go and... (get a hold of it)"

Say what you want about MØ and her ~~tragic~~ performance on Saturday Night Live, Pilgrim is an amazing song with an amazing video to match. I was introduced to MØ through Beg For It (which fails to make my Top 100 of 2014), which led me to discover some of her solo work. Nothing particularly struck me until I came across Pilgrim on YouTube. The video is amazing, hypnotic even, and the song deserved to smash. This is MØ’s only appearance on my Top 100 of 2014.

91. Luke Bryan - Roller Coaster
"We spent that week wide open / Upside down beside the ocean... / Sunday came and it was over / Now she's got me twisted / Like an old beach roller coaster"

You’ll be seeing quite a bit of country music on this countdown. After Luke Bryan’s “That’s My Kind of Night” landed at #57 on my Top 100 of 2013, another single from his Crash My Party album breaks into my Top 100 of 2014 at #91. Roller Coaster is just a cute jam, and there’s really no other way to describe it. Country (with pop influences) made quite a comeback in 2014, with Luke Bryan as one of the artists at the forefront.
