Look, prohibition for under-18 doesn't work anyways. Alcohol is so easy to get even if its made illegal. Hell, banning weed doesn't either. That's why the gov. is realizing that people have rights to do what they want and are legalizing it so they can tax it.

Because alcohol doesn't directly cause those things. If you use it responsibly, it is safe. They should crack down on trying to prevent the irresponsibly consequences that can come from abusing it.

Thankfully they are taking steps towards legalizing marijuana, which is in the same boat as alcohol when it comes to what I said above.

Marijuana is a completely natural substance though....making alcohol available for consumption involves multiple steps, whereas with cannabis you can pick it right off of the plant and smoke it.

But, I do sympathise with the members of that community who are forced into it at a young age or any age for that matter.

Duh but still it's not a good look to have it be legal for all ages when there is scientific proof that it damages development.

It's 21 where I live which is ridiculous, I don't think I've met one persons in college who doesn't drink and party on the weekend. I do think 18 is a good legal age tho. Especially since we are supposedly adults at that age.

Weed is illegal in alot states in the us tho. Only 4 states have legalized recreational use of marijuana.

Neither is marijuana. Everything can (and will) be abused by ignorant and irresponsible people. The point is that if we allow something as dangerous as alcohol, why not marijuana, which is significantly less dangerous?

All that being said, at least we're taking the right steps toward legalization of marijuana. I'm sure in about a decade it will be the same as buying a bottle of beer/liquor at the store.

Yes it is natural, but smoking isn't. Just a reason to why perhaps it is illegal when alcohol also has negative side effects: the method of ingestion.

People, will do it no matter what. So why make it illegal, when countries can make profits from taxes as many developed countries have made it a regulated profession.
