Wasn't the motorcycle in the album cover supposed to symbolize Gaga and music as vehicles of change or some such thing?
TBH I've never understood the cover. There are many things Gaga has done that has left me questioning, but the top 2 are the meaning of the "meat dress" (well I mean, I got what she said - but it was just such a bad explanation that I thought surely she just had her words muddled) and the BTW cover. Like WTF?

The BTW cover was basically her 80s metal version of this:
It's the kind of cover that you could analyse till the cows came home because it could symbolise all manner of things. Transformation, halfway between fantasy and reality, visualising the album as a career vehicle, she feels like a machine carrying others, she's steering down her own path now etc.

Too bad she didn't realize Madonna didn't live in the same fantasy world where Gaga got the email about BTW it would've saved so much drama and I honestly think Her career would've been in a better place right now

Oh wow, I never saw that before. And then there's the single covers for ARTPOP with the portrait style which Bowie did for one of his albums and the Pierrot.
