If you're a straight black man, you don't have to change the radio station if a pop song comes on, but if you're mouthing the lyrics in public, the urban community will come for you. For example, I remember when I was at a stop light and "***Flawless" came on the radio, and a thuggish black guy pulled up behind me in a 1993 Lincoln Town Car (I immediately rolled up my windows and locked my doors), and I looked in my rear view mirror and I saw this dude lipsyncing to "***Flawless."
My internal voice said,
"Look at this n**** singing to '***Flawless,' right now. And in public, too? Aw, hell naw."
So, I got his license plate number and put out an APB, so later on in the day, he got his
comeuppance for that irresponsible display of public behaviour from a straight black man.
