This isn't 2006 anymore. Rihanna has just as much of a say in her work as label execs when picking out singles.
This is the same person who put out Birthday Cake remix WITHOUT label support y'all really think Rih gives a damn what a label says. If she wants a pop, urban, country lead single she'll do it.
