she sings better than most of their faves so they resort to nitpicking as a means to downplay her talent.

Calm down before you burst a blood vessel. It has nothing to do with Mariah. Take the criticism or leave the thread sweetie.

Enunciation and breath control are the big issues. Resonance creeps up often as well.
She is quite talented tho.

Her voice isnt too overbearing imo, Christina is the one with that problem, I can barely listen to her music because of the constant overshouting.

She has poor breath control, she sucks at enunciating, her tone is too "airy" from my liking.
she just doesn't meet the standards I look for in my faves.

Are ATRL vocal coaches for anyone to take their 12 yo opinion seriously?

No. I hate when you lambs act like you actually know what you're talking about when reality y'all no literally nothing about proper singing. You hear stuff someone else says and repeat verbatim. Take the time to actually learn about what youre talking about and stop nitpicking every little thing in Ariana's voice, you sound hella pressed and uneducated. And this is coming from someone who actually has a musical background unlike you.

A mixed belt is a composition of a properly balanced chest and head voice with varying degree of ratio. A good 50/50 balanced mix is someone like Aretha (even though I hate her, she's got the greatest mix I've ever heard), while Mariah's mix has varied throughout her career. During Daydream her mix is like 70% head voice 30% chest, although many other lambs can argue that, but let's say during the Christmas era, her mix was so resonant. She has a lot of chest voice added into her mix. 93-94 was her best vocal days in my opinion, but everyone else love the agile, airy, light, Daydream voice which I love also

Many Lambs are just naturally musically inclined, and they can't help it. I am not a great singer but I've made great observations, and have learned through my other lambs about musical jargon and what not.
You will not know know what, why or how, but as I've said, we've been lambs for so long that we've nitpicked Mariah's voice and analyzed it so much to the point that we have all developed perfect/relative pitches trying to figure out what notes she's hitting You should try being a lamb for a month and then you'll know.

What I hate the most about her is her lack of emotion when she performs live, she sounds emotionless and of course her mumbling & enunciation problems.
She has a powerful voice though and she can sing anything.

A true (chest voice) belt is when your vocal cords try to go to the higher notes without switching registers. Ariana for example, always aim for the high notes by switching to her thinner cord, albeit still maintaining control over both registers - basically combine both chest and head voice registers. At this point her chest + head voice mix to what's called mixed belt.
Basically, this is much easier and considered less impressive to achieve than belting with ONLY your chest voice at full capacity without switching to thinner cord. The note is normally thinner and considered less powerful than a true belt. FYI, ADELE sucks at this just as much as Ariana.
Idk how to make it simpler. I hope you get it.

Thank you for your clear and helpful explanations. I've watched some videos on youtube too...
I get it now.

She can hit an F5, or an E7, but the quality is where she's lacking. She can hit them because her natural voice is already high enough that those notes are in her "natural" range. And even if they are natural for her, what should be expected is that she has resonance (ring) on her voice, but that's not the case. Her voice end up sounding like Minney Mouse, with no resonance, no depth.
Her enunciation is just terrible, her runs are always out of place, almost trying too hard to show off that she can hit the notes, but she always fail.
No amount of practice will help her, her voice is always and will always be that squeaky tiny sound. Her enunciation she can work on, but resonance is something you have to be born with, and this is what separates vocalists from great singers - Mariah separating herself from Mariah clones such as Ariana, Leona, or sometimes Christina.
Christina has great resonance, but she blocks it off in favour of that screaming (even though I lover her vocal style).
