Both roles of the underdog and the fanboy were already filled with *much* better characters long time before he dragged his booty on the shores of Philippines.

Sing it. Spencer is, was, and will always be a
painfully mediocre character and proof that the viewers automatically conflate underdog status with likability/having a personality; in reality, he was a droning, bland, toneless bore and completely devoid of any wit or charm—and he also spent the whole season getting completely manhandled strategically. As horrid as she was, Kass ***** all over him as a character.
