making controversy is taking a huge risk imo... It can either elevate your status as a pop star or destroy your whole career (see: Janet and Miley)
The reason her entire career is afloat is cuz she is risk free. She is specialized to serve to the needs of a special market, which is nothing to be ashamed. She rules the 12-19 age bracket. But risks, she doesn't take any.
