is a brilliant opening line. It establishes the mood of the song perfectly in 8 words. The driving conceit is so well-constructed and leads to another 10/10 lyric: "So it goes / He can't keep his wild eyes on the road." (Oh and the next line is so good too!)

And Wildest Dreams may be a Lana rip-off but it has amazing imagery and is better lyrically than BS.

Basically that 1 and the whole 2nd half of the second verse. Looking closer I think I'd give it a 9 but its not perfect.

Giggle at a funeral is a superior way to describe a dark humor.

The 2nd half of the verse is perfectly executed as well.

TMTC verse 2 is something Euphorian with a bunch of unnecessary metaphors where you can tell there's supposed to be some deeper meaning but it's so drowned in words that the meaning is muddled. Plus the meter is really off.

In Dark Horse it keeps a tight meter and rhyme scheme while introducing strong metaphors that still convey the meaning clearly.

IMO Style is the best executed song on 1989. The imagery, the production, the vocals. It sounds like urgency. It sounds like betrayal. It sounds like running. It sounds like fainting. It sounds like love. It sounds like *gasp!* I just wish it had a proper bridge.

I love speeding down the freeway blasting Style pretending I'm in a music video.

Wildest Dreams loses all its lyrical integrity because every melody and every lyric is a Lana rip off. Lana has fantastic lyrics though.

Yeah that's kinda what I'm saying and the whole point of why I made this round. Hit songs almost never have good lyrics, and I don't like the mentality of judging based more on how likely it is to be a hit than how good the lyrics are. It's the judges choice though, so I'm just forcing the judges to judge differently this week.
