People have been so pressed by the success Iggy has gotten, and for no reason at all. When people say she owes Azealia an apology I'm laughing, because the only one who deserves an apology right now is Iggy. The whole industry is coming after her just because she's successful? It's ridiculous.

I think my issue with all of this is that Iggy holds no malice in any of her actions. I can see how she can be perceived as problematic and could she stand to learn a thing or two? Yes. But perpetuating white guilt (which is what most of you are doing) is not the answer here. Iggy is not going to empathize with someone (A. Banks) who has had beef with her for years, nor would she respond to her eloquently. Who would?
She clearly does not have a firm understanding of the bigger issue here as most white people don't and that is ok. They have not lived through the struggle some blacks endure. Instead of making her feel guilty about it and attacking her, maybe we can try to be more understanding to where she is coming from and she can reply in turn.

That's the thing though. It's not about Iggy. It's not about Azealia. It's so much bigger than that, and neither she nor (the majority of) her stans understand that. It's not about empathizing with Azealia, it's about empathizing with Black women, men, and culture.
Also, someone, a legend, already tried that: @qtiptheabstract: "HipHop is a artistic and socio-political movement/culture that sprang from the disparate ghettos of NY in the early 70's Coming off the heels of the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT and approaching the end of the Vietnam war it was a crossroads 4 America specially for blacks in the US our neighborhoods were PROLIFERATED w/a rush of HEROINE."
"Our school systems here in NY dungeon traps with light for learning… blk men some of whom didn't return from tours of duty n the ones who did came w/war baggage (agent orange, addiction, ect..)… these men had families but due to these events and throw into the mix the public emasculation… they proved to be handicapped parents. The surrogate parents? The STREETS… the streets of gangs, crimes, and the hustlers coddled us and swept us up."
"But! Being a spirited, rhythmic & expressive people music art dance outlined our existence… it proved a way for us to exhault to scream to dance to laugh and find OUR VOICE… we weren't at the time skilled musicians as kids. We had records, turntables, ideas and INGENUITY being natural chemist we took from whatever was availed to us and we created something mighty and special."
"We cut breakbeats back n forth we took a hybrid of Jamaican toasting along w/ radio jock rap( hank Spann, Gary Byrd, ect.) and we put our rap down.. it was a neighborhood thing really. Black and Latino Kids were carving out their space and it became infectious… eventually Keith Cowboy coined the phrase hiphop . Yrs later the first rap record was recorded and now we r moving."
"But during these strides this country still had the monster of racism and racial insensitivity breathing and ruling… believe it or not young black n Latino lives specifically weren't acknowledged in mainstream American culture unless Of course.. the convo was abt gangs , being criminals or uneducated. And hey! Like I stated early our families were rushed our schools sucked and we were left to put devices to survive… but HIPHOP showed that we had DEPTH, fire, and BRILLANCE… the music was undeniable! It moved from NY N became national and even GLOBAL."
"Hiphop now was FOR EVERYBODY!! All of those who cld relate to the roots, the spirit, the history, the energy.. It reached YOU… it touched your spirit n took u up. We magnetized you! That's what BRILLANCE does… now u are fulfilling your dreams … BUT! you have to take into account the HISTORY as you move underneath the banner of hiphop. As I said before… hiphop is fun it's vile it's dance it's traditional it's light hearted but 1 thing it can never detach itself from is being a SOCIO-Political movement."
"U may ask why … Well once you are born black your existence I believe is joined with socio-political epitaph and philos based on the tangled and treacherous history SLAVERY alone this is the case it never leaves our conversation… Ever. WeAther in our universities our dinner tables our studios or jail cells… the effects still resononates with us. It hurts… We get emotional and angry and melancholy… did u know president Clinton was the ONLY PRESIDENT to apologize for it? did u know that remnants of slavery exist today thru white privilege? When certain "niceties" r extended your way because of how u look? Isn't that crazy?"
"I say this 2 say u are a hiphop artist who has the right 2 express herself however she wishes… this is not a chastisement this is not admonishment at ALL this is just one artist reaching to another hoping to spark insight into the field you r in. I say this in the spirit of a hopeful healthy dialogue that maybe one day we can continue… I've been on twitter a long time and this will probably be my last series of tweets pretty much but I'm Kool with it as long as I got to share this w u. Zzzzzzz's up! Peace!" to which the response was: @IGGYAZALEA: "i find it patronizing to assume i have no knowledge of something I'm influenced by, but I've also grown up with strangers assuming that. so its completely fine and I'm used to it by now. i don't lose any sleep over it. im also not going to sit on twitter & play hip hop squares with strangers to somehow prove i deserve to be a fan of or influenced by hiphop."

Where did Charli insinuate that Iggy's race means that she can do whatever she wants? Charli only mentioned that she's white, female and Australian because those are things that traditionally are out of the ordinary for a person who enjoys success in the rap world.

People need to understand that the way how Iggy is being marketed is not in a way where being white, blonde or Australian is a disadvantage. It's actually the opposite. She is marketed for an audience that is here for catchy popsongs and pleased to see a white, pretty female rapper who looks sexy. And nobody would assume that she is Australian when you hear her on the record.

What was she supposed to do? Reply with an essay?
If the girl says she is familiar with the culture why wouldn't someone believe her?

Was Q did was stupid since he assumed Iggy didn't know anything about hiphop's background.
Iggy clarified she obviously knew the history behind the genre she's into.
She was basically treated as ignorant which is rude.

I didn't expect to find so much support for Iggy here, atrl is finally seeing the light. I love Iggy and I hope people stop being so jealous of her and so bitter
Music does not belong to one group of people.

I realize this is much bigger than Iggy or Azealia but i was commenting on various points i've read on here throughout this whole ordeal. She's just ignorant as are most people. That is the harsh truth. She doesn't mean harm which is obvious to me. Most white people don't. But it is natural not to absorb dialogue when you feel you are being attacked. What Qtip said was completely fine and very insightful but it came at a time when she is receiving backlash left and right. I really hope in the end she can take something constructive from this because I do love her music and am a stan but I fear she will not.

Don't quote me.
This entire situation arose because Banks is jealous of another girl who happens to be white and a rap/pop star. Lets not act brand new. People are petty, some more than others. Race was brought up because all of the furgoson situation, Azealia is a bad person and knows that it woukd bring her attention. To bad for her its only from twitter.

If anyone is racist in this case, it's miss Azealia Banks.
It's one thing to dislike someone saying she can't rap or that she is T.I.'s product but it's a whole different level when everything you have to say about someone starts with "She is a white . . . "

Right, because typing "huts" instead of "hurts" clearly shows that I don't know how to spell the word, instead of that my finger just missed a key.
Didn't you just say " Miss Banks is entitles 'success'"? d It's always the silliest girls trying to play Grammar Nazi.
