But... you're a gaga fan too so I'm not sure what the picture to the left has anything to do with what I said. The issue is ancient. Nowhere did I say that people today still don't live with those issues. Chill out.

So now the literal fact that we are becoming more of a global community is liberal spoon feeding? You cannot be serious.
Anyways, on topic, I cannot sit through anymore of this video. Once she started saying "I'm a creative. I can do whatever the **** I want. You guys work at radio; you do the music." She sounds like a child. She sounds like the girls I went to high school with that nobody talks to anymore because of how miserable their presence makes people.

If only Iggy was this insightful.
It's sad how ignorant she is to racial issues, and the same goes to her fans.
All that matters is her personal little feelings getting hurt because that's the biggest problem she sees.
She doesn't see that issue is much bigger than her because she doesn't live that issue,
she doesn't have to see it. Literal textbook-case appropriation.
|
Exactly, and that makes her completely stupid because every time AB or anyone else brings up those serious issues, she sweeps it under the rug to make it about herself.

I'll admit that we are becoming a more tolerant and accepting global community, but it's like a pebble in an ocean. You can't just say something like "oh well black people aren't getting lynched (untrue) anymore so we must be getting better", like that's not the point. We're still not equal enough, and a majority of the racists and bigots just hide behind these companies and religions and politics to fool people into believing they're gone. Racism doesn't disappear, it just gets smarter.
Miss the with the "global community" rhetoric until we're truly a better society for it. We're not yet.

Iggy the product of what many black and white people make of hip hop/rap these days. There are black and white artists who have taken hip hop culture and turned it into a parody. What is unfortunate is that the likes of Iggy and Macklemore are rewarded on some level, while those who are more deserving are put aside. Those more deserving usually happen to be black. Black people in general usually have to work a lot harder to achieve similar success to their counterparts.
I get where Azealia is coming from, I do, but it runs deeper than blaming or hating Iggy. Iggy has no idea, and a lot of people have no idea, including black people. I'm all for awareness but not if Azealia Banks is the spokesperson. 20 years from now, maybe. Right now she's young, dumb, and full of money so she's not thinking clearly.
I do agree with Iggy that Azealia's piss poor attitude is truly the worst. She's an instigator who pops **** to pop **** but the second things get real she's going to call her lawyer. I do agree with the interviewer about Azealia's social media attitude not helping her cause at all. The nicknames and the outbursts make her look immature and belittles her message entirely! This girl is a hot ass mess!

I guess I just kind of don't know what people to expect. For Iggy to give up her career and start crying? Like just everybody do what they do and stop worrying about who "understands their privilege".

Azeila is just bitter she keeps having no commercial success. Why didn't she say anything about Eminem or Mavcclore. About Sia who uses a West Indian accent? Or those ppl that sing rude? Nope, she saw a young female rapper who did what she could only dream of. #jeslousy

This syntax is not it. Like, Mavcclore is NO ONE's name. But I'll respond.
Eminem and Macklemore very pointedly mention, and are aware, of their massive white privilege.
That's the real difference.

This is why I love her.
I understand everything she says and feels. This was just amazing. I almost started to cry with her.
People try to come for her and act like she's crazy and doesn't know anything but she's speaking the truth.

I honestly always liked how cordial and professional Iggy is in response to Azealia, but after watching this, I hate Iggy, who doesn't understand why she is making black people mad. Everything about Iggy is poised for business and success, maximum reach, maximum saturation. She's a great business woman. It's a complete capitalization of black art. It's taking something so precious, removing all meaning and history, and smearing frosting all over it so white teenagers can eat it up. Azealia is passionate not only about music, but about the art, the history of the music her people created, and about the hardships they went through and how rap music and poetry were utilized to help cope. Azealia can feel this in her every bone when she makes music. This is why she acts out of the line others, Iggy especially, do not want her to cross. Iggy would never cry over rap music or hip-hop, or history of the music. She came here to make it big.
Azealia is the real deal. BWET solidly pushes rap and hip-hop forward, while honoring and respecting it's present and past. We have something so good right in front of us, essentially putting her entire existence and history into her music. She is real, and you're not going to see her post some stupid Twitter story about staying positive and doing good deeds when black people are getting killed and humiliated by a society that is horribly unaware of the effects of hundreds of years of racial injustice.

This is easily one of the best posts I've ever read on ATRL.

I don't know much about Australians, but maybe they don't view racism or see color through a telescope in the same light as Americans. So, maybe that's why Iggy doesn't "get it" or acknowledge it.
Azealia sounds unreasonably angry and stupid. She decides to use her voice to constantly take jabs at Iggy via radio interviews and social media & pretend to be this intellectual person by saying that Iggy doesn't understand, but she refuses to have a sit down with her because she thinks it's pointless??? Well, why keep talking about how Iggy doesn't understand? She's kinda pointless at this point. She sounds like an angry black woman and people love seeing that type.

If she was bitter and wanted commercial success she would keep her mouth shut and promote herself as a good girl rapper and cover up her private life. Clearly that isn't what she's aiming for, you can't be that ignorant?
