But she needed to release BOL, first of all Only could not be promoted on all these shows like AMAs, EMAs, GMA, Jimmy Fallon etc all these standard promotion events, first of all its too explicit and she only has one verse.

Nicki said it herself. And Only wouldnt be a good idea to sell the album with anyway, it only represents a small part of the albums actual sound, and it wouldnt have been enough for only that song, there needed to be another single, a single also suited for the audiance outside US. BOL actually represents more of the album than Only does.

BOL was very needed, some of yall dont really undestand how this goes. Of course she wants to reach out to all the audiance, she wants to have an successful album, first of all the album being crossover, is like the best argument why she should release a dual release. The album represents two different audiances.

BOL represents about 6 songs of the album, the rest are either straight urban or cross overs of both formats. BOL did not have to be chosen & neither did Only. She could have chosen a song that could appeal to more than one format.

And it doesnt matter if it worked or not, BOL was something she had to release, what else was she gona do to promote her album properly? Just do interviews? Only has a specific audiance, its explicit, she cant perform it everywhere, and her having only one verse, meaning she would need the atleast two of the other guys with her, and how has that worked out? How has she promoted Only? 1 performance... The song might do good because it has three other people on it, which its fanbase is buying, but will it sell the album on its own without support from something else, no.

And yet again this isnt just about the US, Nicki has a WW fanbase, its not a smart move to neglect them and let her album flop there without a support of a single, Only is not gona do anything outside the US. She has after all a European arena tour coming in the spring.

My point is this, I agree with you but dual singles typically don't work for Nicki because something gets overshadowed. This situation further supports this statement. Yes, with her releasing Only it required her to release a pop friendly, performance friendly record. But what's so wrong with her releasing a single & just letting it fall where it's destined to fall?
