ATRL never fails. Most of you need to stay out of discussions regarding Hip-Hop & need to realize that not everything is shady and a direct shot at your fav.
And please hang it up with the pretentious talk because if Nicki said something similar, this thread would be filled with "Yas Queen of RAP! Real Hip Hop!1!!!"
If you actually followed him he has said SINCE THE BEGINNING that he didn't care where the album landed. When the projections came out he said he didn't care he wanted people to just focus on the music.
Hell he is on a "tour" across the country just randomly visiting his twitter followers and bringing them lunch no performances or anything.
Even in "Note To Self" he mentions NUMEROUS times that he didnt do it for the sales. Thats why he chose to release this way.
And the no features, no singles bit is in reference to him not having ANY features on his album, and not releasing any singles prior to the album being released. He did 350k just because people wanted to buy his music.
So yes the numbers are humbling because he did better than he thought he could ever do but then again its something that he never was looking at in the first place. Yall need to STOP.
EDIT: Alot of the music this year WAS trash. So no, he wasn't lying. The ones who are butt hurt over his comment are the hit dogs HOLLERING
.
& I think he's talking at the current state of hiphop with the "stop serving trash" comment. Watch his recent Angie Martinez interview and you'll understand.
This. He'll be gone from the charts next week and forgotten in a few months
Sis...this is his third album .
All his ablums has sold 3.5x or more it's opening week. He's consistent. The rap GP don't care what he tweets they care about his music. He's not a pop girl.
i support him and love his music but condemning collabs?? come on, collaborations are fun for the listener and good for the artist to expand his/her sound and creative approach
- He constantly gets over looked in hip hop. He delivered a good album, didn't go on a crazy promo tour, and didn't even bother doing a lead single. Let him live
I think you've all taken it out of context. He's not claiming he's humble. He's saying that he and his team never believed they would secure north of 350k on an album given two weeks of promotion. Heck, the only 'official' promotional performance was during release week and it was a track not even on the album.
375k is a # Cole fans could only dream of, those #s are huge for an artist like him.
