that whole thing with Brad left a bad taste in my mouth too- especially because the whole reason he was in it in the first place (he was not originally part of the cast, just exec producer) is because he was trying to get money to produce the film from studios and they wanted to be able to attach his face/name to the movie for advertising purposes. hollywood its racism not brad's fault though. the film probably wouldnt have been made without his help (as sad and wrong as that is), and i still think it was a great film overall.
is it bad that i laughed every time Lupita got hit???
the cry she made when the mistress threw the bottle at her
i bought the movie but for some reason i don't feel compelled to ever watch it again (at least not right now)...the actors were great though
She's gonna be co producing a movie (with brad) based on ngozi adichie's book americanah. Not sure if she's acting in it.
She's also in that new star wars movie (not sure how big of a part) an the jungle book remake.

It's crazy how I haven't heard much of her, she's been doing some magazine covers and all of that but I haven't seen her on any movies....
Cate Blanchett is a fantastic actress but she's a follower, not a trailblazer. Case in point: this latest Malick movie. Would she have worked with him before Tree of Life made everyone run to him? No.
Her next movie: Todd Hayne's Carol. When did she start working with him? After Far From Heaven.

Life Aquatic? After Royal Tenenbaums.
Babel? After 21 Grams.
This is a recurring thing in her resume.
And she's playing the evil stepmother in that Cinderella movie too
