The reason why Ed is doing so well this week in the UK, is that he has had a great week of promo in the UK.

He performed and also won British Artist of the Year at the BBC Music Awards, performed on X-Factor Finale and dueted with the winner on the show and had his song performed on X-Factor a couple of weeks before. Plus he is the biggest UK male act right now.

Actually its 1200 spins away from spins record. Year end countdown won't be any help to BS since that is totally dominated by the songs released earlier in the year.
