It's first semester exams/finals, which I suppose is the equivalent of a college midterm? I don't have to take second semester exams this year, (well, besides my AP tests) though, because I'm a senior

I think you mean its a midterm and then you guys have like final exams at the end of the year which I remember taking (like state testing). Idk its just different terminology XP I just never called my tests exams when I was in high school XD

We don't have state testing at the end of the year, but we have both AP Tests and second semester exams (like the same thing as what I'll take next week, just over second semester stuff) at the end of the year if you're not a senior.
It admittedly makes no sense, like most things at my school

They're midterms, but a lot of teachers use the term for both semesters as opposed to calling one midterms and the other finals.
