What does the quality have to do with anything? Look at Anaconda, All About That Bass, countless others. They are iconic but (imo) not great songs - I do like Anaconda but it's success has little to do with the actual quality of the song. The days of that correlation are over.

Now I'm not saying Run The World is as iconic as those mentioned above, but it is iconic. It's recognised by many people outside the world of pop fandoms as one of her signature songs and I always see choreography videos of it on YouTube with dance troupes recreating it, etc.

Y'all confuse popularity with iconic. Nothing about AATB and Anaconda are iconic. Topping the charts doesn't automatically make something iconic.

sis, how can a song not be great but still be iconic? I don't care if it would've been bee's 6th #1 single i still think its horrible. AATB and Anaconda are lackluster and also far from iconic

AATB and Anaconda both caused huge debates about skinny-shaming, obesity, body image issues and self esteem/self image in young people.

Each caused headlines and broke records, and will always be associated with 2014, and the artists that sung them, as well as their videos. And in Anaconda's case, the single cover.

In 5 years, will people be talking about these songs? I hate when people rush to call something iconic when you don't know whether it's alleged impact will stand the test of time.

I kinda agree though because people in my town with a lot of people that don't even recognize songs that are sung by Bey know about Run The World (Girls) and that she sung it. Guess the line "Who run the world? Girls!" is popular. ;/

And BEYONCÉ are not even sold in the biggest music store in our country and it seriously hurts her sale because months back when I was there, I heard a woman asking "Do you have the new Beyoncé album?" and they were like "Sorry, no"

One Asian country got the album almost 9 months after the release

The whole era was a mess in Asia tho.
