I've noticed 1989 is doing around 150% of Red's respective weekly sales" almost every week. Expecting it to sell 5.5M+ in the US alone tbh

The reason Taylor's 1989 sold more than a million copies of Prism in it's first week in the US is simple. Taylor is way more popular and has more fans.
This is the third consecutive time Taylor has broken the million album week barrier. Katy Perry has never broken the 300k barrier in 4 attempts. In what world does anyone even think Katy could even come close to Taylor's album numbers in the US? He needs to come back when Katy can get more than a quarter of Red's opening numbers before pretending there is anything close to equivalence in demand.
What tall tale is going to be spun by that dude next? That Katy Perry could sell out as many Stadiums as Taylor but chooses not to in order to avoid traffic jams?

The real question is how is it selling in comparison to Speak Now?

Red was Taylor's fastest selling album. It was more frontloaded in sales compared to Speak Now. 1989 is selling faster than every previous Taylor album, up to now. Obviously we will have to see about it's longevity of sales.

Now, WAIT a moment. I just realized, on Black Friday week, RED sold 260,000 Worldwide. Based on HDD numbers, 1989 outdid that with US numbers alone

Isn't it at 2.55 million with that streaming factor?

So far:

How did Hozier blow up? Is it because of Taylor? (if she's not the reason then )
