Not y'all acting like people are being stopped from having a Straight Pride Parade.
It's not gay people's fault that people actually attend Gay Pride and don't attend Straight Pride. If you care so much, organize and attend a Straight Pride parade, literally no one is stopping you.
Like you're really posted on the internet complaining about the fairness of a HYPOTHETICAL event no one even cares enough to organize and/or attend, FOH

Yeah, but associating the idea of being gay with being as provocative as possible to get attention isn't exactly helping at all. I'm all for people being openly gay, but that is too much. This isn't about fitting into the 'straight mold', this is about being an acceptable, self respecting human being. Deliberately alienating yourselves from people isn't helping. 'Gay pride' is the worst thing to have ever happened to the idea of gay equality. It hasn't focused on the (diminishing) issues for ages, it's just an excuse for making gays feel like they're doing something and a way for them to hook up. The idea of being 'camp' has been around for a while but gay pride reinforced that massively. It has no positives whatsoever. Instead of people thinking of gays as human beings they're seen as 'those weird flaming ******s'.

Exactly, and whose fault is that? The people who can't seem to separate 1 day of frivolous joy to real life? Right.
I'm sorry but most straight people are stupid when it comes to this, and unable to see through different perspectives. It is up to us to show them all sides of the gay community, and it is up to them to see what they want to see.
No one seemed to care about the fact that Apple's CEO is gay, but when a group of gays is having 1 day of fun in the city everyone gets riled up.
A gay guy can save the entire planet and things would not get better for the gay community, but if a gay guy was caught having public sex and a straight person has the chance to say 'ha! told you so!' they will
That's not the gays fault, it's the idiots.
The fact is, we will not get attention if it isn't for the stereotypical things, and that's the straights' fault. We should not conform ourselves to what they think is right, if we do that we might as well be slaves to their standards, which most gays already are tbh.

Like by all means a gay pride parade in Saudi Arabia would be courageous and for a worthy cause but now they're just an excuse for guys to hook up.
I'm here for Straight Pride tbh, it's not something I'd take part in but there isn't anything wrong with it and calling them homophobes is pretty ignorant.

Did you actually read the article or just the headline?

So...why did all the major progress for the gay rights movement happen after gay pride parades started happening?
I get that you want to be the "rebellious and cool" gay who doesn't go with the ~mainstream~ and support gay pride, but you seriously just sound like you haven't read even the most basic outline of the history of the gay rights movement. Educate yourself before you speak on historical subjects, not after.

You kinda missed the point, but for the record there isn't anything terrible about 'straight pride' even if it's a bit unecessary.

Because at first they actually served a purpose. Like raise the issues all you want, pass the legislation all you want, but all it does is raise negative stereotypes, and that can't be stopped in itself.

Are you girls EVER going to realize that the reason gay men are perceived as effeminate and super flamboyant is because guys who could pass for straight generally did before the gay rights movement of the past 20 years? The only people were out were the people who couldn't hide it. But of course, you guys think they're the problem, not the COWARDS who hid in the closet.
If you want gay people to be perceived more equally, BE OUT and ATTEND GAY EVENTS and show the world that gay men come in different shapes and sizes. Stop hiding in the closet and then complaining about how you're represented. It's up to YOU to show different representations of gay people in the world, because no one else is going to change their personality and how they express themselves for your pleasure.
Stop being lazy, self-centered people who can't do anything but whine on their keyboard. Be the change you want to see in the world.

No they weren't. They've become MORE political and less rowdy over the last 20 years. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Both.
Obviously they weren't the best example but gay pride at this point is just a big party, there's not anything all that wrong with an equivalent for celebrating heterosexuality. It won't have the same purpose that gay pride had at the beginning but gay pride doesn't have much meaning right now either. A better alternative would just be a celebration of sexuality in general rather than LGBT-exclusivity

That is not just "Straight Pride" though. That's from the excerpt from the article on the front page. Did you or did you not read it?

And what's your point? What's wrong with a party to celebrate all we've accomplished for our people and all we are continuing to accomplish?
Holidays change over time. People of all sexualities are free to attend and do attend gay pride parades.

Or just everyone could come out, you can't stop such a large amount of people who have their current levels of support
I realised I used that same argument before and feel kinda stupid.

It's like "white pride", there's nothing wrong with "straight pride". The only problem is that racists or homophobes are often the ones hosting these events.
But why wouldn't someone be proud of being straight, or white, same pride as if they were gay?

Having what would (in correct hands) basically amount to a big party full of straight people wouldn't be all that bad.

So instead of having the parades have everyone come out, normalise the whole thing and eliminate the need for gay pride parades
