The Spirit Movie Review
5 out of 10 Stars
By: moviemaven
Frank Miller's second directorial outing is his vision of Will Eisner's The Spirit. While the look and feel is reminiscent of his own Sin City, the similarities pretty much end there.
When the film begins, fans of his artwork will be pleased but for some that feeling will fade rather quickly. The story is interesting, the cast is well put together and the girlies are hot but the forced humor has a habit of getting into the brain like a spike.
This mostly falls on the Samuel L Jackson character, The Octopus. Jackson is his usual over the top tough-guy self but it doesn't translate as well in this medium as it does in say, Pulp Fiction.
There is a nice little nod to Marathon Man that I'm afraid most viewers will miss but other than that it gets tedious at times and even boring. I found myself watching my watch periodically.
I definitely have a solid crush on Gabriel Macht now. His portrayal of The Spirit is sexy and alluring and one of my favorite lines from the film is his: "Somebody get me a tie and it damned well better be red."
Sadly I was not smitten with the film in its entirety and I was not the only one. I heard many grumbles from moviegoers as we left the theater. There was no telltale excited chatter. It was almost as if we were filing out of a funeral.
I will say that one of the highlights was the end...not only because it was over but because I love Christina Aguilera's version of the song "Falling in Love Again (can't help it)." That kept me glued to my seat through the credits. The film alone could not have done such.

THE SCORE REVIEW
Quote:
The sights do the aesthetic talking in The Spirit - not the sounds. This might explain why I didn’t notice any music in the film until the song that played during the credits. Called “Falling In Love Again,” it has sexy synths, tempting female vocals and a great melody. It is sung by Christina Aguilera, and it is the film’s only redeeming moment.

That is true. B2B did not sell anything close to 5 million, let alone over 5 million. LMAO!

And Christina has it, she doesnt need a computer to help her hold a decent note like your Idol Britney.

Well, according to press release from RCA Back To Basics has sold 3.7 million copies worldwide. If Christina was relevant for more than unknown photoshoots and recyclable duets, her thread would still exist and you could possibly see that press.
And yeah...real talent on top. Christina can sing all she wants sweetheart, but um the end of the day was when "Keeps Gettin' Better" slid down the charts and "Womanizer" sustain. And if we must go back further, "ANOM" struggled to reach Platinum, "Hurt" struggled Gold, and "Candyman" barely sold much. While "Womanizer" and "Circus" hitting new certifications with each other every few weeks. Mad much?

But Christina where she sounds[ for the most part] the same she did when she started will have no trouble in the next decade.

No. I told you the answer to your question. You insisted that you knew it sold 5 million, when you were 1.3 million off. And Christina can't even last half a decade let alone an entire one. Try again.

Britney's ass gets handed the music, she is one of the most manufactured artist in music. Her music ain't nothing special, and it ain't different, for all I know someone else could have sang her songs and coulda got the same effective, weak emotion, and generic feel. Also Britney fans need to stop saying she is a great dancer, cause most of her dance moves consist of Britney swinging her arms, and not doing much else...

LOL. Well, as I've previously stated, Stripped was bumbarded with negative reviews for it's writing with Christina being the sole writer on all of the tracks, with maybe 1-2 other writers with the exception of "Dirrty". Which is why Back To Basics ended up being full of sampled lyrics, her writing with several writers, and not nearly by herself so she could receive good reviews. Britney at least has been positively awarded for her songwriting skills, which for the most part she has written with only a few others on her most personal tracks, if not alone or with 1-2 persons. And dancing, that's only your opinion. Regardless, it'll be Britney before Christina in the "who will appear at this award show" circuit.

Yeah because it totally fair to compare a new track off a album to a greatest hits track

The fact that haters devote so much time to Christina when they say she so irrelevant is quite funny if you think about it
I mean i don't like a lot of artist on here but i dont sit here devoting my time to them

Can you not read? I went back into the last album.
And despite GH or album, it was released/promoted as a single, so same damn difference.

dear god, isn't it sad that Britney can sustain a well mannered topic and no fights EVER break out, but when its about Floptina, it's always chaos and hating in her threads. Christina threads should be BANNED, they never go anywhere besides a Britney Vs. Christina war.
Close this bitch up, peeps!
one thing i will admit, is this song is ACTUALLY pretty interesting now that I heard it in full.
