On first listen of the snippet, I thought 'Oh no, I want more. That's not what I'm looking for.'
But actually, after a good few listens, from what we can hear, I think it's a great song. Deep down in the depths of Madonna's heart is a rebellious spirit, but also a melancholy that runs deep and you can hear it in the production and vocal delivery.
Those bashing the vocals: it's a retrospective song, looking back on her career and life. She's supposed to sound weary. Just wait for the full before we make any opinions.
. Though, I guess it's ok for what it is: an old legend ~reflecting on life. The problem for me is that I don't find Madonna's current POV very interesting. She's seasoned and accomplished, and but also privileged and has been stuck inside her own bubble for way too long, like an older Gwyneth Paltrow.
Good thing M dumped her quickly.
