And Don't Tell Em took literally months to catch on with mainstream. It had already peaked and died on Urban way before it started being picked up by Pop formats. It certainly wasn't an instant mainstream success.

Not really considering Jeremih is pretty much a trend hopper and DTE was produced by the hottest/most mainstream Urban producer of the moment who had a plethora of songs in high demand and on replay. Beyonce is a huge star. She works with huge Urban producers and collaborators. She even married one for her career. Yet most of her Urban (and Pop) songs flop. That is odd. There is a disconnect between her starpower and ability to turn songs into hits.

That doesn't overshadow it. Drunk in Love was still a huge hit in America/Canada. Everybody knew it, talked about it and knew the words, even if they didn't buy it.

Beyonce isn't really a trend hopper though. She doesn't work or release what's "of the moment" or "hot right now". She doesn't work with the current trendy producers nor does she go for the sound that's currently big. Obviously everyone she works with is going to be reputable she's ****ing Beyonce but there is clearly a difference.

I could understand if she was releasing Max Martin or DJ Mustard songs in the peak of their reigns and not connecting. But she literally releases what she wants when she wants.

Seriously? I live in Canada and everybody knew it, it felt huge. Bigger than most other chart topping hits. Was streaming not included on the Canadian BBH100? If not, that probably explains it
