Angelina Jolie's 2nd attempt at directing. A good book. The best screenwriters in the business. But Jolie is too eager to impress and win awards without having a clear vision. Uneven editing choices and violence for shock value rather than to inform. The book was a story of Zamparini's faith in God to pull him through his ordeal as a POW but this extremely important theme was barely visible. The extensive and considerable amount of media hype surrounding this film since it's pre-production, doing whatever it can to create Oscar buzz, gives the audience a very high expectation which it does not live up to. The performances were notable but selling the director, Jolie, who is more famous for being famous and a tabloid regular, and unproven director, seems to be the angle used to get audiences in the theater. On a personal level, I feel Hollywood is a little too saturated with war films lately. They are all starting to bleed together.

If only they had used Rihbar's forehead as the wall to keep the hybrid in. Then they wouldn't need to make the movie at all.
And even after the dinosaur destroyed the island, the quality of life is still higher than in Beirut (which is itself only marginally better than Baghdad).
You praised Intersuckage, you didn't know Damon Lindelof's real name (the creator of the show that you seem to swear by even though it's mostly ****), and you stan for the Purge series.
