I can understand the hysteria. The character has always been of an ethnic persuasion and its just too easy for Casting Directors to just choose White characters than actually using their resources and scouring the acting community for trained, powerful ethnic actresses.
It's not as if their aren't any, but the reason their are a lack of them in the media now, no-one actively goes out to uncover more. Like, the casting for the role of Pan was a huge deal at the time. It was set over a weekend and they looked at THOUSANDS....and yet they ended up choosing a brown-haired, white boy.
Like, why not be brave and say EYE know, let me be more attuned with an evolved society and hire a biracial or boy of ethnic persuasion. I guess its too much 'hassle'.
