I can't see Avicii getting another big hit here anytime soon. As long as "Wake Me Up" keeps getting the recurrent airplay it has, I feel like all of his songs will be passed over by DJs.

Radio loved it so much that it was very reluctant to move on to "Hey Brother;" that's why it didn't do as well as it could've on pop; same with Aloe Blacc's "The Man" despite its good sales. "Addicted to You" flat out bombing solidified that.

Let's see:
-They have a perfect record of #1 albums. The only girls that I know have that are Beyonce, Ariana, and Nicki.
-They consistently open bigger than most girls besides Taylor + the occasional big opening from Beyonce, Gaga, etc.
-Their undefeated streak in most fan-voted award ceremonies. I can't think of a girl even close to being 19-0 at the TCAs.

Its probably different for Katy because she has a long history of hits in which Dark Horse is equal is size to others like Roar and Firework. Therefore people don't just associate Katy with Dark Horse or any other song even, but as an actual brand and person.

WMU! is kinda like Blurred Lines but to a lesser extent where when people think of Avicii they think only of Wake Me Up

Aloe also had "The Man", which probably hurt him even more, because despite being the ~13th best selling song of the year, it underperformed greatly on Pop, only reaching #8 and barely going recurrent.
