IFPI's numbers are always higher, but it's not shipments.
I sometimes find it odd (the IFPI numbers) but they are not shipments.
ARTPOP has sold 2M for sure (Mediatraffic has it at 1.85 4 months ago and with the artrave still going it's pretty sure it's 1.9 on mediatraffic alone) and Mediatraffic is unreliable and doesn't include a lot of countries.
Let's say ARTPOP is 2M. Do you think they only shipped 300k Worldwide ( and Gaga is very, very global, they have to ship more albums in many more countries than some other artists).
If you were a business man how would you distribute 300k copies WW for so many stores etc.

It's impossible. ARTPOP has easily shipped at least 2.6-2.7k and that is only because underperformed.
Albums like BTW and TFM have at least 1-2M shipments over what they've sold.
And my source is common logic + on the IFPI reports it simply says SALES. And written by the INDUSTRY ITSELF this is really significant because they know the EXACT difference between Shipments and Sales and just because uneucated people on ATRL say "Shipments are sales .... to retailers" for the Industry they are SHIPMENTS otherwise there wouldn't be the word SHIPMENTS.
