Chart Analysis
Clearly my buzz for the This Is How We Do song and video reached its peak this week at the #1 spot this week. This is Katy's second #1 song this year (with her 1 week #1 Dark Horse). On another note, this continues Katy's reign of top 5 singles from the entire Prism era. On another trend, Katy's #1 have stayed at the #1 spot for 1 week for her #1's this era. To extend this thought further, Roar, Dark Horse, This Is How We Do were the only #1's from the Prism era thus far and each spent only a week at #1. Going before the Prism Era, Wide Awake only spent 1 week at #1 in August 2012, Part of Me spent a week at #1 in March 2012, The One That Got Away spent 1 week at #1 in November of 2011, and Last Friday Night (TGIF) spent one week at #1 in August 2011. This lead me to show that 1. the last Katy Perry song with multiple weeks at #1 was E.T. (feat. Kanye West), but 2. Katy pretty much has one true week with me where she completely dominates my music life and then I drift off into other songs thereafter. Will TIHWD break the curse? Find out after we get to the next page.
After a tight week of competition, This Is How We Do was a few plays ahead of Shake It Off. Is has me a bit worried if SIO can get some time at the #1 spot I forgot to explain last week One Step At A Time got a big boost due to Speezy underrating the song and re-falling in love with it~!
Now in looking at the grand scheme of the chart, a lot of songs from the past 2-3 years have gotten some recurrent play thanks to doing a lot of chart archiving this week, so naturally many songs from the past got to shine a bit brighter then in other week (which also lead to a number of chart re-entries). This was part of why Play It Again skyrockets from 10-4 this week, Compass re-enters the countdown at #7, and thanks to the previous explanation alongside Element's power, Anything Could Happen rejoins the chart at #10 (which makes the song re-peak altogether).
While in past weeks I've been kind of getting over Roller Coaster (which drops 3-15 this week), in return my "wannabe single" What Is It With You jumps 23-9 as it gets some heavy rotation to act as a single on my chart
Among other songs charting this week, This Love Will Survive shifts downward from 4-5, Get Your Shine On takes a tumble from 1-6 in all this random competition between the songs above it. Lastly Yard Sale sees a minor increase from 9-8 this week.
Hopefully that gave the chart some perspective for upward and downward trends throughout the chart. Here's my countdown so you can judge for yourself:

Chart Analysis
Oh boy the recurrent play/love is too real on this countdown this week. In looking at the grand scheme of the countdown, it is evident a lot of former big hits entered and shifted the countdown this week. For example, Safe & Sound, Domino, Come & Get It, and Believe (which re-entered the countdown at #6, 7, 9, 10 respectively) are some of the biggest chart entries to make the countdown due to the fact I was making my last minute touches to my all time chart . With this All Time Chart formation, it lead Play It Again back to the #1 spot for the 6th time this year . All the while his current hit Roller Coaster is up 14 from 15
So while the rest of the chart is a bit messy, there were some consistencies on the countdown. For example, Shake It Off was indeed blocked from the #1 spot again thanks to Luke, but she will likely get the top spot in a matter of weeks it seems. What Is It With You looking ahead will take my focus off of Play It Again and Roller Coaster and give this bonus track some love likely in the weeks to come. Will it ever hit #1? stay tuned.
Another big shifter this week was Bang Bang by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj. On an odd note, Ariana Grande has yet to have a single since The Way miss the top 10. The Way peaked at #4, Baby I peaked at #6, Right There peaked at # 9, Problem & Break Free peaked at #7, so Ariana continues her top 10 winning streak this week. Jessie J and Nicki Minaj have not been as consistent as Ariana
After spending a week at #1 and two weeks in the top 2, This Is How We Do makes a slight drop from 1-4 as some new songs grab attention away from the Katy track. Lastly, Get Your Shine On hangs around at #8 from being up at #6 this week.
As for big chart shifters, Anaconda jumps 31-16 this week likely due to the VMA performance. Love Runs Out also does well for peaking outside of the top 10, as it shifts in its 7th week 30-17.
