BIG MACHINE VS. MOUSE MACHINE: Two fierce retail competitors will duke it out as we approach the 2014 finish line: Taylor Swift’s pop juggernaut 1989 and Disney’s frosty marvel of a soundtrack, Frozen. At this point we give the edge to Swift, who hits the 2 million mark this week and now looks destined for the 3.6-3.9m range by the time the New Year’s corks pop. She’s spawned two huge singles in a row and likely has several more hits in store. Meanwhile, Frozen, which has moved more than 3.2m this year, needs to sell at least 75k per week to beat Tay’s projected total—a tall order, particularly given that a songs-only version, also at retail, doesn’t count toward the retail tally of the soundtrack which appears on track for 3.4-3.6m overall. But don’t count out the Mouse House, which has a Frozen TV special airing on 12/25, a dizzying array of merch and more. Updates coming soon. (11/18p)

I think she will do around 3.5M by the end of the year if she keeps selling well. To match their predictions, she would atleast have to sell around 500K for atleast 2 of its weeks which is very unlikely atm but not impossible though

That Forbes article was interesting.
I feel the same way about 1989: Her lyrics/melody is there but it's not that noticeable with all the MM pop. I still like the album though.

Must be selling well in markets that are not tracked by Mediatraffic. It was around 600-700k outside US with their last chart (selling under 200k second week).
Global.

Thank you so, so much for caring about his safety and taking the time to have a new one delivered. (For those that don’t know, the car she brought wasn’t working quite to her liking so she brought it back and had a replacement delivered so that it would be safe for him). I’m beside myself with gratitude that you did this and bothered to remember (because honestly even if it never came, you absolutely made this little boy’s day and life as well as mine). You’re absolutely killing the fanbase with your kindness this Swiftmas and I love coming on here and seeing the new smiles you’ve made each day.

This is big news
Quote:
Sony Music Entertainment artists including One Direction, Pitbull, Calvin Harris and Carrie Underwood could be dropping out of free-music streaming queues, in the wake of Swift’s company pulling her entire catalog from Spotify.
The decision by Swift’s Big Machine Records to yank the pop star’s music from Spotify has prompted Sony Music Entertainment to reconsider whether it will continue to license songs for free, ad-supported music services, according to Kevin Kelleher, EVP and CFO of Sony Music.
After Swift spurned Spotify, “a lot of conversation has taken place over the last week in the light of that,” said Kelleher, speaking at Sony’s investor relations day Tuesday, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
“The key question is, are the free, ad-supported services taking away from how quickly and to what extent we can grow those paid services?” Kelleher said. “What it all really comes down to is how much value are the music company and the artist getting from the different consumption methods.
