Janet had a great career, that's a fact, but look at where they are right now. That's why I said her career can't be compared to the other two, Mariah and Madonna still relevant, selling albums and concerts.

I agree, Janet just for some reason never really clicked with the new generation. Mariah and Madonna have evolved and have been able to be if not the best one of the best artists of this decade

Actually Eli, TVR sold over 8 million WW and AFY sold 7 million WW, at least according to the few sources I've seen like WorldWideAlbums.net.

And Pedro please, none of these 3 ladies faltered when Britney came out. Mariah had her meltdown two years later, Madonna and Janet didn't really hit a rough patch until '03/'04. I mean, Rainbow, Music, and All For You all sold over 3 million while Britney was at her height of popularity.

You're absolutely right. AFY sold better in the US but I got WW tallies mixed up. In the US "All for You" was a bit of a comeback for her, because "Got 'Til it's Gone" as a first single generated almost no buzz, while "AFY" was the biggest hit of 2001.

True, but they actually sold about the same in the US. TVR sold 3.1 mill through SoundScan but an additional 420k through BMG's music club, while AFY sold 3.2 million through SS but only sold another 100k through BMG

she was doing just fine until superbowl happened. than bascially radio boycotted her, and still do to this because of the superbowl and age. and the only reason madonna isn't in the same boat is because she get alot of support for europe still. but anway it's not like Janet's music isn't off the wall on what's out today, I guranntee you this if feedback was done by any other other than Janet it would of been a hit, the problem isn't the music at all

If the album had been released in summer it sure as hell could've been. At the very least, "LUV" should have been a proper second single with a video and promo.

I don't think the Super Bowl could be used as an excuse. If she had kept making amazing albums then it would excuse the low sales, but I have two answers to that:

A) If she still made amazing albums the SB probably wouldn't have affected her and she would've maintained her high sales.

B) Her albums are average at best now. That is a fact. Prove me wrong, JJ... Prove me wrong.
