Distribution is how albums get into shops. Distribution companies sign deals with record labels (or very rarely, directly with artists) that gives them the right to sell that label's products to record stores that have an account with that distributor. The distributor takes a cut of income from each album sold and then pays the label the remaining balance.
i guess distributors are involved enough to hear the music, since they're potentially making or losing money because of it. idk what to think.

the dreamworks animation twitter account kinda slays. dreamworks has done great promo for the new penguins movie
they're doing a tumblr q&a with benedict cumberbatch (what kind of perfect marketing plan) and they even made a penguin dance. i'm happily surprised and hopeful for HOME
