Taylor's success is an enigma. Blank Space would be overlooked if sang by anyone else, and if it was Katy's song SYG would be screaming GENERIC. I find it cute tho, also Wonderland, I Know Places and Wildest Dreams.
Well thats the point its her writing that sets her apart
anyone else doing this song would feel unauthentic
You just answered your own question. Taylor being corny as **** has nothing to do with Beyonce. The hive just happens to have more people who can spot corniness unlike other bases who also support corny hoes.
The media's overhype for Taylor because of her sales is just... No one will be talking about 1989 in 6 months.
At least when the media did it with Adele, people were also talking about the music, her performances, voice, etc. With Taylor it's just all sales and how she looks in her music videos.
ff. Then I guess this discussion was pointless.
I find little logic in placing an album in a certain album sales climate w/o also considering its performance in that musical trends climate.
21 would have proly been a dud in the 80s, 90s, and early 00s. But I digress.

One can be measured objectively; the other cannot.
All we are saying is given the fact that she sells so much right now, completely dominating everyone else her album sales would have most likely been higher than they are, considering that people actually bought popular music back then.
Its a fallacy but from a mathematical standpoint it makes sense.
Best selling album 2012- 4m
Best selling album 1999- 11m.
Is it really a stretch to think the '12 album would have sold similar to the '99 one if released at the same period of time?
Both albums were the most popular albums of that given yr.
Maybe.
But there was a time when 50 Cent could sell 10+ mil. That wasn't just the market acting. But also the trends.
A quantitative analysis of album sales kinda leaves A LOT out of the equation considering the qualitative nature of music.
