Nicki has really gotten herself into quite a mess here. She could apologize but that would only mean that she is guilty for being the mastermind in the conceptualization of such a tactless piece of work. She could deny and say that it was mainly her team's concept but that would also imply that she's just a puppet, and knowing how vocal she is and how people that work with her declare her as anything but a label puppet, I doubt they would go down to that route.
