I'm happy that we are actually discussing this in an adult and mature way. This past month when we discuss shortcomings of different topics everyone is just negative and disrespectful but it's refreshing to have a discussion that doesn't turn personal or doesn't include immature 'shade' that usually isn't funny.

Stop presenting your damn opinion as gospel though. Some of you are insufferable. ARTPOP isn't a bad album. Selling 1.287 million copies of your album in a week doesn't make it good. The GP unwittingly lapping up your music doesn't make it 'good music' at all.

Sam Jay is right tho. It is not a secret for anyone that the quality of Gaga's music has declined since TFM. Even with the perfect promo, ARTPOP still wouldnt have sold more than 2.5M WW. No matter how much you promote an album, if the music is not good enough it just wont sell. Just accept the fact that Artpop was an album full of fillers. Only Applause, DWUW and Gypsy are ok. And the only one's point that is wrong is yours. Not everyone is deluded.

tbh ARTPOP is a good pop album, it has some amazing tracks on it and it can definitely hold it's own when compared to current pop albums. i think people just expected more from her, they don't want good - they want AMAZING

End of the day, people hold Gaga to an unrealistic standard. Everyone has their own idea of what a 'good album' is, and who a 'good producer' is and if she doesn't deliver what they want... it's some how bad music? I agree. Too many times I've wanted to say something (constructively criticising) about Gaga and it just ends up in a mess. I never have the same problem whenever I talk about Kesha in the Kesha base or Katy in the Katy base. It's just Gaga. I think some of her fans are just particularly sensitive because there has been so much dragging of Gaga by the media and such this past year. It's nice to be able to have an opinion without being told that I'm stupid just because I don't agree with someone else.

But you just did in this very post. Okay then. Nobody's opinion is gospel. My opinion is my opinion and whenever I say something it will always be just that, my opinion. I shouldn't have to state "in my opinion" at the beginning of every post for that to be understood.

I feel this is true. Those three are the standouts for me too (and G.U.Y., shame it did so poorly on the charts). But everyone likes different things so I can't blame someone for enjoying an album just because I don't. But the majority seem to enjoy Gaga when she makes music like The Fame/The Fame Monster and Monsters like Gaga when she's doing ANY music, whether it be The Fame, religious themed Born This Way or Jazz Cheek To Cheek, so why not try a similar approach to The Fame (Monster) again? Then everyone wins.

Not here for all the ARTPOP shade. Sam Jay, you are entitled to whatever opinion you desire (and I mean that earnestly, I really do), but please stop using that opinion to justify ARTPOP's underperformance compared to Gaga's past material. Just because you don't particularly enjoy it doesn't mean others don't. That goes for anyone else using an opinion, something which is subjective, to justify or explain success, something which is mostly objective.
In my opinion, the biggest thing that hurt her was the trend that was set against her from day one. People have always tried (and failed) to bring down Gaga, but this time, she was finally at a level where they could accomplish it. And oh did they take their chance. When you have people going out of their way to make up a variety of completely different personas (Angela Chang, anyone?) to spread undeniable lies ($25 million lost, anyone?), with major publications then picking up said lies and reprinting them, the trend is very, very obvious. And very sad. That coupled with all the internal, behind the scenes issues was bound to lead to a rough era. It's actually amazing it did so well taking all that into account.
Whatever though, ARTPOP remains my favorite album from her, and I still have hope we'll get ACT II, eventually.

So you agree that Born This Way is the best album released since 2011 cuz it sold more than any other pop girls'albums.
You also agree that 21 is better than TFM right ? Good music sells.
And "It's no secret for anyone" I guess it's a secret for me and a lot of other people because Born This Way >>>>>>>>> TFM.
