As someone who actually did come of age during the 90's no one outside of the tween demographic used Britney or cared about her manufactured Janet Jackson image. Pretty much equivalent to One Direction today. I can totally see Directioners 15 years from now acting like 1D was as big as the Beatles too

Exactly. If anything this is the best possible outcome because Taylor broke her record and Britney keeps hers. The only ones who are complaining are the Britney haters who were desperate for the record to be broken.

No. The difference is Taylor sells albums whereas Britney was a brand. She was scandalous, pushed boundaries, and had the ear worms that got in everyone's brains. Both are huge but you just can't compare ANY modern pop girl to Britney. And thats coming from someone who isn't a Britney stan
