What competition does Tay have right now? Katy? 1D? None of them are releasing right now but TS.
Britney had no competition in 99 but by 00, the world was full of Britney clones and her completion was mainly xtina, DC, and Em as far as big sellers go.

And what does being a fighter has to do with anything? The desperation and excuses.

It completely does. Billboard didn't change the rules, yet. That would be like me saying Taylor's opening "doesn't count" because her albums are being sold considerably cheaper than albums from 2000 or because she had an extra day of sales. You can't just decide someone's achievement "doesn't count"
You literally have nothing to say other than "The ARMY IS FUMING!" yet no Army member is in here having a meltdown. The only people in their feelings are the usual trolls and it's highlighted by the fact that you can't even respond to what I said with my post but instead revert to "THE ARMY IS MELTING DOWN." Lay off the tacky gifs, generalizations and bandwagoning for your own sake, Rolland.

Britney debuted when Celine Dion, Shania Twain and Destiny's Child were peaking. On top of that, TLC, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Deborah Cox, etc. were slaying.
Do you really think talented artists like Katy Perry, Rihanna and Taylor Swift would've blocked Britney when pop royalty themselves couldn't?
It was for males, at least.
I'd like to know how your numbers include single sales when album sales from 1996-1999 looked like this:
1999: 754.8 million
1998: 711 million
1997: 651.8 million
1996: 616.6 million
That's from Soundscan's report from 2013 and doesn't include 6 years of the 90s. Source: http://gloriousnoise.com/2014/music-...soundscan-data

Clocking you for trolling isn't the same thing as fuming I believe I also dragged you when you pretended to be a Madonna stan and use her receipts to "drag" Britney. This is no different.

HDD is random anymore. In the early 2000s they'd literally update every hour on the hour during Monday & Tuesday. It was fun. These days, they do a few random updates and call it good. Granted, back then there were hundreds of music stores reporting. Now, not so much.

They won't be out till Tuesday and even then they won't be official until Billboard announces the Nielsen Soundscan numbers (often different than HDD's numbers). I highly recommend just waiting for title changes on this thread or for Wednesday's update.

Only 1994's included Single Sales, because they did an overall unit sales at the end of 1994 without seperating.
All of those weeks came straight from Billboard's reports during the last weeks. Granted they didn't publish Magazines nor Charts on Christmas weeks that's where any difference would probably come from. But even looking at your link, my point is still proven that sales peaked early 2000's.
