Can we discuss how 'The Purge' Anarchy is the best horror movie of 2014.

I recently saw 'Wrong Turn' 6 that came out on DVD last month. The series gets worse & worse with each release.

I got The Purge: Anarchy this weekend, gonna try to watch it next week

My take on the Babadook is that its actually a manifestation of Amelias personal demons that torment her. In her struggle with grief and raising a troubled child she is in a kind of waking nightmare where she's forced to face those demons and find a way to exist with them. Hence the ending where she seems to have the babadook under control. Its very metaphorical.

Guillermo Del Toro also does this kind of thing brilliantly where horror and fantasy are used to explore the troubled mind.

I think horror and fantasy are arenas in which we can discuss anxieties, philosophical questions, and bring it almost to the level where abstraction becomes flesh. You know, you can, very much in the tradition of the Greeks, be able to manifest big ideas, big themes and make them reality.

The Purge Anarchy is amazing, I watched like 3 times, 2 of them in the theaters

V/H/S: Viral was terrible. I liked the magician video, and the weird Mexican cult one, but it was just really ridiculous and didn't flow well like the previous movies.

everything.. the action scenes. The messy storyline. The cliché of "bad/lonely man" turns into a "good/loving man"

Did you like the first "The Purge?" I was so impressed by the trailer (looked like it would be as good as The Strangers), but I thought the film was a huge disappointment. I've been avoiding the second till I know how good this is.

The Babadook was awesome and so rare in the way it was done. Great movie.

Orphan was a bit too cliché for me but still very nice to watch. I think it's always just a bit too gruesome to put kids in those storylines.

I actually fell asleep half way through I was so bored, im done with the purge movies.

I watched The House of The Devil it all seemed good and promising until the ending, it just seemed very rushed and you knew what was coming. Still cool 80s vibe they pulled that off well.
