At the end of the day Mariah still has sold more albums than Taylor, she has more #1, she's more respected and has more impact so lets not get there.

I honestly don't think scott would have mentioned how close it is specifically to OIDIA sales record unless Taylor has got it in the bag already. Otherwise he's just setting everyone up for disappointment from the anticipation.

The Billboard article was talking about her beating "The Eminem Show" which did 1,322 million.

There's no chance she'll beat Eminem's record. 1,76 million with mmlp.

Yea, I think he is tweeting that to make it seem like she hasnt done it yet, so her fans can run out and buy some last minute copies, in hopes that 1989 will pass the record by a larger margin

Taylor might be the hottest thing in music right now but putting her on the same league as MARIAH - THE CAREY - is just all sorts of wrong. It's not about sales, grammys or whatever, it's about LEGACY. Mariah Carey IS a musical legend, so you need to educate yourself a bit more before trying to defend your fav by comparing her to music royalty
