The Greatest Hits album was not confirmed. Some sources only suggested it might be on her contract. Even if it is then it doesn't mean it will happen. Record contracts are changed all the time. Hell most artists are dropped by their record label if they flop, it doesn't matter if they have a contract or not.
Taylor will be renegotiating her contract anyway. If she has one more album left on this contract, BMR will want her to talk about renewing. She holds ALL the cards. She adds a lot of value to the selling price of BMR, if she leaves they lose their biggest asset and biggest revenue generator.
If Taylor looks like leaving BMR then every single record label will be chasing her signature. She is the biggest American artist and most consistent album seller. She is the closest thing to a guaranteed smash album you can get in the industry. And albums generate the biggest profits for record labels. So Taylor has what record labels crave the most, the ability to sell albums.
Maybe Scott won't sell BMR, maybe just some equity in order to cash in. Whatever happens, I just hope Taylor is in a place where she feels comfortable, like she currently is with Scott and BMR. She has a lot of power now though, her sales have given her that, so she will be able to decide her fate. There will be no Kesha situation for her.

Went to my local Tesco to check out their CD section. 1989 is no 1 in their chart section. It was sold out though. The only CD in the entire Top 50 that was sold out! I did see Artpop on sale at half price for £5 though! Didn't buy it.
It's out of stock.
£31?
It looks like a cheap ass made quality.

And I was like goodbye
Drowned in Sound with a think piece about 1989. More haters being converted by her music.

Quote:
Why has the World fallen Under Taylor Swift's Spell?
Because, of course, the rest of us pretentious We Know Good Music lot are, right now, just playing catch-up to Swift’s younger fans. Those fans of the earlier albums knew all along what the wider music-loving world seems only now prepared to acknowledge: the best art comes from a personal voice, and Swift’s music has always owned that field.
The reason the world has gone nuts over 1989 is because, in reflecting on times in her life that have gone less than perfectly, Swift has given us something we can all relate to. In the personal lies the universal.
She's got to have a Greatest Hits at some point, its inevitable. I'd say maybe after her next album, or like Robert said, in 2016 when it's been a decade since her debut.
I'd love if she re-recorded some of the songs whenever she releases a greatest hits. Her voice sounds so young and not fully developed on the first album.
Ok I think I've decided that Speak Now is just that album for me that won't be topped, also cuz it brings back memories for me. But 1989 is either tied or just right under it
