The Babadook was fantastic

while the child was annoying some of the time, I have to admit the kid is an amazing actor. The acting overall was great.

The only thing that disappointed me was how it kind of went like The Conjuring and went typical-demon-movie when the mom was possessed and grabbed onto the door frame to bust in the room where the son was. It felt like a bit of a copout and didn't mesh with the tone of the film. And I kind of wish the scenario in the book played out but I guess the Babadook sticking around was an equally terrifying idea.

Overall it's easily the best horror movie of 2014. What a shame that it's not getting a theater release in the US because I think people would've eaten it up for Halloween. Certainly better than that Annabelle garbage.

Acting was really really good but Babadook as a whole was lacking, 2.5/5 for me, maybe a 3

but

It wasn't a demon, it was her inner demons after her husband died. She had a fight with herself, and trapped it in the darkest corners of her mind. She's still mentally unstable, hence the dove and black roses, but she isn't INSANE anymore

Yeah I figured that out after reading the IMDB boards. Personally I prefer the surface value interpretation but the real meaning shows how much effort they put into it.
