Look, I love Britney and all, and she's obviously a pop icon. But the Army is truly delusional about her, thinking she's some legend up with MJ and Madonna. Britney did not have the longevity to claim that.

I'm not saying Taylor is heading for legend status either, but her consistent massive success for almost a decade now (with no signs of slowing down) puts in her a much better position to be remembered and respected in the long run. Only Taylor and Bey are heading there right now.

Somehow the "what was shiny, now it's all rusted" line comes across as exactly the kind of "went for universal, wound up clunky" attempt at metaphor ("...like a plastic bag") that Katy would come up with.

Either way they seem kinda uncharacteristic for Taylor. For all the criticisms that have been made against her lyrics (that they're too childish/broad; overly saccharine), she has never been one to not know her way around a turn of phrase.

Hmm that's interesting. But a lot of her songs are even more poorly written than this one so idk.
