Because Taylor, whatever you might think of her, is an actual artist. She has an emotional connection with her audience and her music is hers alone and in that sense it is irreplaceable, unlike Beyonce (until very very recently) or Katy's music which could be sung by anyone and has no semblance of personality.
I agree tbh. Even though I never liked The Lord's country music, all her music has her personality and it's about her life in general. There are no songs from her albums that are thrown on them and have no connection with her in a "personal" way.
It did 1m cuz it was her follow up to Fearless. The SN singles didn't do much on the charts and for the most part pop radio ignored her. She wouldn't be doing 1m this week w/ 100% self-written songs and one irrelevant producer.
I'm not holding it against her -- unlike OutofTouchGa she's smart. But she did have to kneel before the biggest producer in the industry to stay relevant.
PRISM ride from Teenage Dream's success. What's tragic is that PRISM is full of generic producers and productions and it's kinda already erased from the charts too.

Get ready for her next era.
PRISM isn't gone from the charts, lol. Do your research Ramos.
I am more than ready for her next era. Cannot wait for the huge lead single and more platinum certifications(poor Gagz hihi).
Imagine the perfection if she ditched Welcome To New Jersey and I Wish You Would Delete This Song to replace them with Nathan Chapman hymns
I agree with Welcome to Trash but I like Would. Anyway I think Taylor was wrong for ignoring him like this, but this album was clearly her next step. And I love it. It's not a Speak now but i'm into it
Personal connection is definitely what moves units. Your product doesn't even have to be genuine, I mean Gaga and her team cooked up this whole persona and she was very successful. The people just have to believe.
