She's floundering in the US (album sales) but it seems like she'll always be successful in Europe. When a single as boring as "Give It 2 Me" can go top five in almost every country there it sort of proves that to me.

I agree that "4 Minutes" wouldn't have been as successful if it weren't for Timberlake. Maybe she'll be like Cher and Celine--breaking her own tour records over and over again while not making a lot of music. But she just doesn't seem like the kind of person who will want to retire.

I agree. But "Hard Candy" wasn't a flop - it's one of the top 6 biggest debuts by a female in the US this year! As far as I could remember only Britney, Taylor, Mariah, Beyonce and Miley are ahead of her. Yes, it's kinda embarrassing that she's the queen of pop but tiny stars are blowing her, but it's not like she has been successful with her previous albums. I don't know what might happen with her coming album. She is definitely going to change her producers, and her attitude. But is that going to help her album sales in the USA? I don't think so, her sales have been growing through out the last 4 years in the US, but it wouldn't put her in a place were people could say "She never flopped".

I hope her the best though.

I hope she pulls a Ray of Light and picks some crazy unknown producers soon. As for her recent past albums, American Life was a flop but COAD was a huge success so it's not like she was out of the spotlight this year.

So Madonna can either carry on working with "cool" urban producers and achieving so-so sales or make another amazing album the way SHE wants and face the decline in sales she is clearly headed for, she is a 50+ woman and kids arent interested in buying her albums anymore.

YES! I think that if she stops selling out and actually creates another masterpiece, it will eventually pay off. She may not garner an insta-hit but she will probably get a lot of awards and critical recognition. Europe would lap it up and then a year later the US would discover it and it would smash up the charts.

American Life was more than 4 years ago, I just said 4 years ago. COAD was BIG, but HC is BIGGER! WW figures are the first thing that pumps to everyone's head when it comes to Madonna.
