Britney's media frenzy in 2007/08 was unprecedented. I don't think anyone will match her peak for a long time.

Taylor has opened with THREE 1 million openers in the 2010S. What more do you guys need? Sales don't lie. Calling her local doesn't change anything, when Taylor still sells as many albums ww as the other pop girls. Britney during her peak was overrated in terms of popularity... it's all nostalgia, believe me. She was never a force in the UK, along with many other parts of Europe, and along with Australia. She was only very big in North America and some parts of South America. She's basically nonexistent in Africa. US has always been her strongest market, and her sales in the country are still close to Taylor. It shows much on Taylor's part since Taylor debuted in a time where albums rarely sell, whereas Britney was at her peak at a time where album sales were at its PEAK. It's facts.

Britney's career U.S. album sales are almost twice Taylor's.
Taylor's global album sales, despite coming out in 2006, are less than BOMT + In the Zone. Taylor's nowhere near close, sis, and never will be. I don't get why this site gets so delusional when someone pulls a strong first week, but Taylor is not the sales juggernaut you all make her out to be. Adele has still outsold her in pure album sales, as have Rihanna and Beyonce and Gaga is rather close WW.
Taylor is undeniably huge, but she still lacks iconography, impact, influence, global appeal (which she is moving in to), etc. Chances of her matching Britney's peak are low, but chances of her passing Britney's global career are non-existent.

Britney's peak is still unmatched.
It would be more appropriate to compare her with gaga who supposedly has the biggest peak since Britney.

why do people constantly try to discredit britney now? it's ok if you think Taylor's peak is bigger BUT please don't act like britney's peak was nothing. Britney is one of the biggest selling female artists of all time. it doesn't matter when she did it, the fact is she did it. unless ofc madonna and mariah's peaks are overrated too since their peaks were during a time where there was no illegal downloads.
3 1 million 1st weeks or 2 consecutive diamond albums either way both of them have done incredibly well

It's more of people finding your argument too stupid & laughable to care to argue.

These threads always get so awkward when the Xtina stans say Britney had no impact. It's almost as cringeworthy as when Arianators say Mariah Carey has no impact or Little Monsters say Madonna has no impact.

Taylor has never surpassed Fearless and probably never will. A peak is the height of commercial success.

Why do you keep mentioning BOMT? That album came out in 1999... goodness gracious. Taylor is bigger than Britney. Her tours are bigger, her endorsements are bigger, and her sales are bigger. That's all that matters. Media frenzy doesn't mean ANYTHING.. if anything, it's a NEGATIVE thing. People know and appreciate Taylor for her as an artist, not a celebrity. I mean... it's better to have amazing commercial success than being a media fixation with mediocre sales or barely any sales at all. Britney wasn't the massive global superstar like the Army prefers to say she was; it's all nostalgia. She couldn't even sell out arenas and VENUES during her peak. There are receipts to prove this.

If it's so damn easier to sell 1m+ in the present day, why is Taylor the only platinum album this year, and the only 1m debut since her OWN IN 2012, while Britney was like the 3rd 1m+ of that year, 14 years ago

After the "1989" era is all said and done, Taylor's US album sales will be close to Britney's. You're telling me that isn't saying something? Taylor sold a total of 6.3m albums in 2012 with "Red," whereas Britney sold a total of 8m albums with "In The Zone" in 2003. You're telling me that isn't saying something?

Lol Britney! Taylor needs to match Gaga's peak or Riri first before going to Britney.

Max Martin is not responsible for Taylor's multiple 1m+ debuts, the delusion not when she already 1 before him

Fearless in probably her biggest era in the states but worldwide, she just gets bigger and bigger.

But...but...but according to that person it was harder for females.
And especially harder for blond females with a name beginning with a B.

You're going to say that the one who has sold 100 million albums has mediocre sales? The other girls had better throw in the towel now if 100 million albums is mediocre.

Omg... she hasn't sold 100 million albums. Not even Eminem, the BIGGEST artist of this millennium, has sold 100 million albums.

Believe what you want, but she has certainly sold significantly more than Taylor's 30 million albums sold worldwide.

And there is a logical reason for that.
Still not impressive. If Taylor debuted during the same time as Britney, she'd surely be millions ahead of Britney in terms of total album sales.

Bottom line is Brit album sales is way above Tay's. Deal with it!
