Okay.
Nicki. I'm going to need you to come harder than this.
This isn't what I expected from The Pink Print.
She was on such a good thing with Lookin' Ass & Pills n Potions. I thought this album was going to be about her asserting her status and her womanhood, & bringing IT.
I love the minimal production, even though the instrumental is quite repetitive and uninspired. Chris slayed the hook- but I would have loved to hear Nicki sing it - It isn't difficult and sounds perfectly suited to her voice.
I guess what I'm most having an issue with is the song's topic. We just had Anaconda... Didn't really need another track about her ass or how much everyone wants to **** her. Why is she allowing these men to overshadow her on her own track? She gets lost in the mix - No vocals from her whatsoever after the first verse, and by mid-way I forget I'm even listening to a Nicki track.
Lyrically, she's proven that she is capable of so much more. Where is the self-reflection she showed on her first album? Where is the powerful woman running a freakin' empire at the moment? Where is the urgency and hunger she was describing? That is what I need from Nicki & this album. She can keep this.
And those of you saying she needs to appeal to her urban market - Her urban market isn't the one buying her material. And even so, there are better urban offerings than this. She can do better & it frustrates me that she isn't, end of.
I agree, good sis was definitely overshadowed. And I don't say that often about a Nicki song.
Wow, how disappointing. I'm honestly stunned that the combination of 4 great artists and Dr. Luke managed to disappoint me.
Actually, the hook is brilliant, I love it. As well as the minimalist production.
The real tragedy is the verses. I mean, I get a cheeky little shoutout to the sexual tension between the three of them, but a whole song about it!? The epic, long awaited Wayne/Nicki/Drake track could (and should) have had way more substance. Drake's verse in particular is horrible.
On a track with Drizzy and Nicki, Wayne should NEVER have the best verse. He should never even have the second best verse. And yet, he does.
Nicki's punchlines are basic as **** on this. I get that not every song can be an upbeat banger, but if you're gonna record a track like this you better make sure your bars are up to par because they're very prominent. There's no beat to hide behind. Up In Flames is a great example of a slow lyrical song.
Like, Nicki's lyrics are no better than Iggy (at her best) on this. Obviously Nicki's flow is way better, but y'all can't critique Iggy's writing ability when Nicki is putting verses like this out. Sorry. And that's just embarrassing.
Lastly, why does she make her singles so damn explicit? The radio edit sounds terrible. Anaconda worked cuz she actually put in a lot of effort with the clean version but this song has so many blurs it's annoying.
I'm going to need Beyoncé in the studio with her for rest of the recording of TPP because Onika needs to go harder. This isn't a bad song but I thought it would leave me edgeless like the flawless remix.
This song is pretty much disrespectful to her. She could've flipped the script on them harder. Cause they talking about her like she a hoe on the street
Big bitties big butt too
F*ck with them real ****** who don't tell ****** what they up to
Had to show ****** where there top is
Ring finger where the rock is
These h*es couldn't test me even if they name was pop quiz
Did Nicki just say something like "These hoes can't test me, even if their name was pop quiz"?
WOW, this can't be real.
She better change the album title before she destroys her respect even more.
Smh, Im out
