Tayloose is a mediocre singer. a non dancer.
a horrible grade 1 lyricist.
The album productions are basic as HELL. Studio beats generic production.
I don't understand the acclaim.
compared to Ultraviolence:
1. The album was recorded entirely LIVE with a seven piece band
2. All of the songs
WRE DONE in one take. (Cruel World and Pretty When You Cry were a free style song done ON THE SPOT)
3. All of the songs were recorded with a 1950s mic.
4. The recording of the album were done with a special technique (forgot the official name for it) to amplify richness in sound esp for Vinyl records.
from the man himself:
Quote:
"Every criticism that I'd ever heard about her was proven wrong when I was in the studio with her," he says. "From how great the songs were to how confident she is as a musician to her ****ing singing every song live, with a handheld microphone and a seven-piece band. I mean, get the **** out of here, who does that? Nobody does that, there hasn't been a number one pop record that was recorded like that in forty, fifty years."

I personally don't like UV that much but I admire the actual effort of making the album and the artistry.
