I was gonna listen to 1989 (illegal download of course) but I just can't being myself to listen/care about Taylor.
I think you have to be white (or a certain degree of white) to enjoy her (bad) songs, and I clearly don't fit the bill so...
1989 definitely is her most cohesive album. Wouldn't call it the best one though. Speak Now and Red both have several songs that are just better than anything on 1989

I would have to agree. Enchanted and Treacherous > 1989.

I don't like Fergie's song but I've never liked her to begin with, so I guess I never had a chance to go in with an open mind. Big Girl Don't Cry and Glamorous are smashes tho.
The simplicity of the melody that immediately recognizes your brain. Thing is, it isn*t that easy to write something like that.
The new single has the same element but it's ruined by the trumpets that sounds like wet farts.
I agree that it's extremely catchy and immediately stuck in your mind but for it to be considered pop perfection the chorus needs something more special, another climax. At least Starships took advantage of a simple children song and its melody was still more distinct. WANEGBT is a bit too simple and monotonous.
