I was one of the first to say that, sonically, Prism is probably 1989's nearest antecedent. But 1989 is completely Taylor. I could read those lyrics on a sheet of paper with no production and identify them as hers, and that's what her fans love from her first and foremost.

Agreed. 1989 reminds me more of Teenage Dream, though. Both created to be shamelessly as pop as possible, and both succeed greatly at it.

Katy could've recorded Style, All You Had to Do Was Stay, Wildest Dreams, and How You Get the Girl with little to no changes, specifically.

Wildest Dreams as well, but any pop girl could've recorded that one since it sounds so Lana. Lana's impact on the girls is undeniable: Rihanna (What Now verses), Miley (Wrecking Ball verses) & now Taylor Swift (Wildest Dreams - Without You).

Red is by far Taylor's best album. It combines every good aspect of her music (country and pop elements) and manages to still be cohesive.
