After Kiesza (and Taylor Swift) we should do iamamiwhoami's 'Blue'. Its thread here has 28 pages, and it comes out on November 10th.
Honestly, TRF.

There are two types of songs/albums you can request: new releases or existing releases.
A new release is a brand new single or album.
An existing release is a song that appears on a previously released album but has just been released as a single (e.g. Animals).

I'm not here for the existing release mess unless it's for a single from an album that hasnt been reviewed.
M5 is probably going to release 6 singles so at the end, that's 6 songs + album. That's very repetitive

Fair point, but I don't think all of their singles will get requested.

They are just one example. The Pop girls singles and few males will all be requested and some of them release up to 7 singles.
Sorry, I just don't see the point of reviewing a song that has already been reviewed with the album.

I don't think it's fair to only be able to review the lead single of an album, that's all.
Not to act like you're wrong and I'm ignoring you, but a lot of people agree with this. I think it would help make the thread more active since we would be reviewing some of the smashes that are big right now, instead of just brand new singles/albums.
If this idea somehow doesn't work I can always put an end to it. For now, I've just been trying to find different ways to drum up participation here and this idea is one of them.

That's a very good point and Im guessing some reviews will change because some will be sick of the song by the time the album hype dies down and some will love it because it grew on them.

I agree. I think that having a single reviewed without the context of an album is a different experience entirely. When I hear a song I don't know on the radio (having not listened to the album it came from), I judge it differently than I would if it sounded like filler on an album, if that made sense.

1989
________________________________________
 |
Two years after her last album 'Red', Taylor is back with her first official pop album, 1989. The album features 80s pop influences while still having a Taylor side.
The album starts off with the cute "Welcome To New York" which is being slaughtered by her fans, who say it's not such a good song but I think it's one of the best. It's definitely a great feel good song.
One of the highlights though, is "Style", which is track #3 on the album and is either my second or my third favorite song on the album. It's up-beat guitar sound with the amazing production is just AMAZING. One of the best tracks on the album. I also love the lyrics. All the Harry Styles references are interesting. "Out of the Woods" follows up right after "Style", it's nice but not really single worthy. Something just feels off about it. "Shake It Off" the lead single off the album, is probably one of the weakest tracks on "1989" but remains enjoyable. It doesn't even fit the album, it's so different, but I still like it to a certain level. "I Wish You Would" is another great song on the record, the production again, is amazing. The Katy Perry diss track "Bad Blood" is track #8 on the album. I like the song but it really isn't as amazing as I thought it would be. That's probably just cause it was my most anticipated track from the album though. The song is still one of the best after a few listens.
Now here is my favorite track on the album. "Wildest Dreams", is absolutely perfect. The soft production, the lyrics, Taylor's voice... it all flows amazingly well and seems just flawless all together. It sounds a lot like what a Lana Del Rey track, showing many similarities to Lana's "Without You". "How You Get The Girl" could have been a Red album track. It sounds good but remains one of my least liked songs on the album, the chorus is great though. "This Love" is my least liked track on the album even though it still cute, it gets better during the breakdown. The song is a grower so my opinion about it might change later on.
Right after "This Love", we have "I Know Places" which is within my Top 3 favorite songs on the album, the lyrics alone are amazing. 'They are the hunters, we are the foxes, and we run' is a line I'll always love. The repetitive beat track has quite a dark tone and talks about how the media covers her relationships. "Clean" the final track, is the best ballad on the album (I don't consider Wildest Dreams a ballad), a little bit better than the Bonus track "You Are In Love".
One of the Bonus tracks that should have been on the standard tracklist, replacing either "All You Had To Do Was Stay" or "How You Get The Girl", is "Wonderland" which sounds like a real summer smash. It's my fourth favorite track on the album after "Wildest Dreams", "Style" and "I Know Places". "New Romantics" is nice but really doesn't deserve some of the praise it's getting within the Taylor Swift fan base.
To conclude, "1989" is probably Taylor's best album along with "Speak Now" if not better than it.
